Knowing Cotton Otherwise

Fashion for Good Museum
Rokin, 1021 JS Amsterdam, Netherlands

The Fashion for Good Museum tells the stories behind the clothes you wear and how your choices can have a positive impact. Fashion for Good believes that the industry can and must change, and strives to help raise awareness and share knowledge. A must-visit for anyone interested in fashion, sustainability or innovation.

What happens when we reconsider our preconceived ideas of what cotton represents around the world?

Visit the third and final chapter of Knowing Cotton Otherwise, and explore cotton’s hidden narratives. The exhibition questions the perception of cotton’s legacy and expands the narrative of African looks and styles, which are often overlooked despite their significant influence on the global fashion industry.

pioneering new platform made up of young fashion designers from Cyprus (and Cyprus diaspora), presenting an eclectic and outspoken vision of what contemporary, sustainable textile design from Cyprus can look like in the present day. As well as being fundamentally forward-looking, all designs draw inspiration from the rich sustainable heritage of Cypriot design practices reaching back over hundreds of years. By drawing on the ‘threads’ of past and future in the designs, the FHNC reinforces the concept and idea that Cypriot culture is sustainable by nature and thus is unique in an increasingly homogenized global world.
