Lynn Wilson

Speaker Biog: Lynn Wilson is currently completing her PhD at the Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow funded by the Economic Social Research Council in collaboration with the Ethical Consumer Research Association. She is advised by Professor Deirdre Shaw and Dr Katherine Duffy. The title of her research is ‘Closing the loop. Driving circularity in consumer clothing disposal.’ She is the founder of Circular Design Scotland, an agency advancing consumer knowledge about the circular economy through delivering projects demonstrating circular economy principles from a consumer perspective. Originally trained in fashion and textiles, Lynn has brought a design perspective to the development of products and services in diverse locations including developing a textile training unit in Botswana to complex policy led systems such as town planning and the circular economy in Scotland. From 2013-2017 she was the Sector Manager for textiles and manufacturing in the pioneering Circular Economy team at Zero Waste Scotland. As part of her portfolio Lynn worked on the UK Sustainable Clothing Action Plan (SCAP) led by WRAP and launched the UK campaign ‘Love Your Clothes’ in 2014. Lynn was awarded a Winston Churchill Memorial Trust fellowship in 2015 and spent a month in Japan meeting businesses developing circular economy technology solutions and delivered a series of presentations sharing advances in Scotland. Lynn is also a Non-Executive Director of Architecture and Design Scotland (A&DS) and a fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts, Commerce and Manufactures. Other associations include being a volunteer member of the Consumer and Public Interest Network (CPIN), British Standards Institute (BSI) representing consumers during the development of product standards. In 2019, Lynn participated in TEDx Bath 2019 and delivered a presentation about analogue and digital solutions for a circular fashion industry.
