ACTION REQUIRED

This zine is an investigation of the fashion industry’s relationship with 10 of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, including gender equality, decent work and economic growth, responsible consumption & production, and climate action.

ACTION REQUIRED is the outcome of an exciting collaboration between Fashion Revolution, modern slavery and human trafficking action group, STOP THE TRAFFIK, and Durham University Charity Fashion Show.

This issue takes on a new format, presenting 10 of 17 of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals in their own mini issue. This issue will be printed using Riso. Riso printing uses rice based ink rather than oil based and has lower carbon emissions than other traditional printing processes. Riso is a part-manual process and as such, every page is unique from the last. Different elements of the zine have been printed on special papers, such as Alga Carta – made from damaging algae blooms from the Venice Lagoon.

Contributors include: Stop the Traffik, Clare Press, Amanda Gorman, Tess Smith-Roberts, Meg Fransee, Adapt and more.

There was a special limited edition run of this zine that is bound together by Bottletop’s #TOGETHERBAND; the global movement aiming to spread awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals through a unique fashion statement, made from up-cycled ocean plastic.
