SICA UPCYCLING DESIGN™ is a lifestyle brand that envisions a world in which fashion is in the forefront to solving it’s own environmental impact as well as social transformation valuing craftsmanship.
SICA works closely with craftspeople, understanding their traditional knowledge and techniques, and co-developing their skills using textile waste from the fast fashion industry to create unique bags and home accessories. The 100% locally made products are made in educational spaces allowing to transfer the knowledge through the communities and to extend the works in other areas and partnerships.

It consists of sustainable sisal derived from the Agave cactus, vegetable tanned leather as well as linen from flax that is cultivated in Europe. All items get their final touch in small manufactories in the region of Berlin. All components are highly durable and either repairable or replaceable. The metal rivets can be unscrewed and reused. A share of the proceeds will be used to provide free, low-threshold classes for the local population in the Chiapas region of Mexico, with the aim of revitalizing the wickerwork tradition and preserving this unique cultural technique.
