Fashion Revolution Week YYC represents Calgary’s participation in a global annual campaign in April, which falls on the anniversary of the Rana Plaza factory collapse in Bangladesh, which killed 1,138 people and injured many more April 24, 2013. We want to unite people and organisations to work together towards radically changing the way our clothes are sourced, produced and consumed, so that our clothing is made in a safe, clean and fair way.

How does plastic relate to the clothes we wear?
Register for the "Plastics in Fashion" webinar on April 23rd at 10:30 AM hosted by Plastic-Free YYC and Fashion Revolution YYC, and find out.
This webinar is the Fashion Revolution week edition of the Pathways to Plastic-Free webinar series. Fashion Revolution Week is an annual campaign held from April 18th to 24th, bringing together the world’s largest fashion activism movement for seven days of action that collectively reimagines a just and equitable fashion system for people and the planet.
Kristi Woo, designer for Riyoko Work/Shop, a local travel wear brand for women, and studio that hosts pattern making and sewing workshops, will lead us through the making of her brand and the things she found out about plastic’s part in making clothing, to what led her to start teaching the skills behind making clothing, and where it’s leading to next. From manufacturing to the outfits we purchase and donate, and the fabric they’re made from, learn about the role of plastic and what we can do to lessen it.
