TECHSTYLER X LDC: WHY FUTURE FASHION WILL BE GROWN, NOT SEWN
Tuesday 21st // @ 6 – 9PM
134 Sloane Street, Chelsea, SW1X 9AT
Kicking off the first in the Techstyler X LDC Speaker Series with a nod to the concurrent Chelsea Flower Show is a panel discussion exploring how flowers and plants provide aesthetic and biological inspiration for fashion. How do plants form the fabrics of the majority of the clothes that we wear? How are experimental plant-based materials giving rise to a whole new world of natural, but futuristic, lifestyle and interiors products? How are they inspiring a new generation of designers who believe the future is to grow, rather than sew, couture?
Join us to hear about how current plant-based textiles are the foundation of fashion right now, and how in the (not too distant) future you will be able to grow your own clothes.
Adam Davies: Co-Founder at Ty Syml and PhD candidate, Loughborough University, whose interior products are developed from seaweed and mycelium (mushroom).
Ioanna Topouzoglou: Creative Director/Founder of Mashu, an accessories label using exclusively Pinatex (pineapple leather).
This event is essential for anyone wanting to better understand the materials of fashion and interiors, both now and in the future, and for anyone who wishes to consume in a more conscious and informed way. From algae lighting to moss gowns, this pioneering panel promises to be ground-breaking and fascinating in equal measure.
Please note that by signing up to this event your contact details for this, and future events, will be shared with both LDC and Techstyler.
