April 23 @ 2:00 pm - April 26 @ 9:00 pm
An event every day that begins at 2:00pm, repeating indefinitely
#NO #SWEATSHOP is creating a positive alternative to industrial production of clothing. Instead of monotonous repetition of the same seams, our sewing mashines are humming to the unique creation of upcycling anti-fashion.
We are inventing a thrilling and positive upcycling utopia, raising awareness for the extent of textile waste and the nessecity to reduce the production of new (cheap) clothes. We involve the audience to reconnect to the things we wear and remember how clothes are made and how much skill and time it takes.
A handful of textile artists and upcycling designers from Berlin, Munich and Zurich will work in the scenery of a massive pile of discardes textiles. Moreover we create a sewing soundscape to add some more emotional layer to the event. The audience is invited to take part in sewing off the pile and get inspired to create awesome new clothes from textile waste. On Friday 26th there will be a Fashion Revolution Walk showcasing the pieces that were created within the week. The walk through the city will give lots of space for interaction…
