April 23 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
We are surrounded by so many amazing plants and flowers that make beautiful colors, every day. This workshop is an opportunity to explore, repurpose, and create color from nature.
In recognition of Fashion Revolution week, join Net Impact San Francisco, Net Impact SFSU, and Carin, founder of Dye on the Side, for an evening of natural bundle dyeing with local seasonal plants and flowers.
You will learn how to dye fabric using natural sources, how to prepare fabric for dyeing, and how to alter the finished color using natural materials commonly found in homes.
Each guest will take home their own unique dyed piece and the skills to continuing dyeing at home.
We would love to minimize our waste created during this event and highly encouraged to bring your own loved garment to repurpose (natural fiber based only, see BYOI ticket option) and a reusable glass jar or take-home container to fit your dyed item. Additional items to dye will be available to purchase.
Want to bring something to dye but don’t know what? Silk ties are cool to print, simple cotton t-shirts, cotton make-up pouch bag, silk scarves…your options are endless! Nothing in your closet but want to bring something to dye? Head to your local thrift store to see what sort of items you can find to give a second life.
Light refreshments will be served.
The entrance to 865 Market is located between Walgreens and the entrance to the Westfield Mall. Look for the San Francisco State University flag on the side of the building, and the glass door entrance that reads 835. Once you find that door, enter inside, where you will take the elevator and ride it up to the 6th floor! The Powell St. MUNI/BART station is the closest and parking is available through garages in the area, there is no real street parking.
This event is open to be enjoyed by all. Questions about accessibility for the event should be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
